I worked with Annabel while studying towards my masters in Environmental Health. My research focused on studying the quality of communal hand washing water at African funerals; an important ritual performed by mourners attending a funeral.

She has extensive knowledge about the research process and principles. She provided me with the necessary guidance and leadership, which enabled me to achieve my degree cum laude. One examiner stated, ”The thesis is clearly proof of the magic that happens when a good supervisor and good student comes together”. She is a hardworking leader who expects her students to be determined and to give their best. Indeed she is a principle leader in the field of research. I will be approaching her again when I start my PhD.

Annabel has enabled me to unlock tremendous potential in multiple areas of academic writing. Through her assistance, I was able to complete my doctoral thesis in Eucalyptus breeding.

Annabel taught me that research is an adventure. She was my master’s study leader. The focus of my research project was Creativity in art. It was a revelation when I realised that the process that I followed in the production of artwork was the same as in a research project. Annabel helps you discover interesting strategies to help you tell a ‘story’ and that writing a dissertation was all about ‘storytelling’. She helps you to realise that research is not an unhealthy burden, but an exciting adventure. Annabel is an expert in the research process. She has been paramount in the progress of my PhD study in radiography by keeping me motivated and focused. Her insight and assistance helped me to devise a CT imaging protocol for cranial prosthesis design and manufacturing.

Annabel appeared on my research path like a true angel. As my supervisor for my doctorate in Biomedical Technology, she guided me through the jungle of my studies with such excellence. She is a one-of-a-kind teacher and master of post-graduate supervision that is truly inspirational. I have learned so much from her. With absolute dedication and selfless support, she walks beside so many students every step of the way during their journey of academic development.
